“A human being has so many skins inside, covering the depths of the heart. We know many so many things, but we don’t know ourselves! Why, thirty or forty skins or hides, as thick and hard as an ox’s or bear’s, cover the soul. Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there.” ― Meister Eckhart

In our ancient days gone by, the local shamans, priests, monks and teachers, they taught and we learned the practices of prayer, meditation, sacred dancing and music/drumming, chanting, strategies and rituals to improve our psychological, physical, mental and spiritual health.

Then came along writing, literature, and modern scientific enquiry  and although we recognised the commonality we share with others. However, they also, perhaps disproportionately, highlighted and accentuated our uniqueness in being individuals and began to try and deconstruct the mystery’s of life.

All of the ancient practices mentioned would lead to a goal: a moment of enlightenment, revelation, the purpose and meaning of life, seen and experienced as if in a dream.

Soul Searching is just that, it’s personal, revelatory, and almost dream like. It can be anything you want it to be. There are common things it entails, but how and when and why it involves them is as unique to you as you are to the cosmos.

It means you become more aware of all the things and people around you that let you know, you are raising your consciousness. And, as you do, you transcend your negative beliefs and habits, that help’s you clarify your vision as you join the numerous searchers and finders, of purpose, clarity and meaning of their life.
